Blackford's GATE Services
In accordance with the Campbell Union School District's GATE plan, Blackford offers a curriculum that is differentiated to meet the needs of all students. GATE students are cluster grouped for a minimum of sixty minutes a day for Language Arts instruction. We are fortunate to be offering students a differentiated math enrichment program on line for 100 minutes a week through Stanford University's "Educational Program for Gifted Youth" (EPGY). With EPGY, students work independently both at school and at home at their own pace. Teachers monitor progress and share that with parents.
For 150 additional minutes during the week, our GATE students participate in hands-on activities in science, delving more deeply into the content standards for the specific grade level.
Field trips and after school program offerings round out our services to GATE students.
Families are invited to meet with our school principal every six weeks to learn about the specific needs GATE students have, and to participate in book clubs.
Your input is needed! How can we improve the GATE services for our students at Blackford? Please see our school calendar to find our next GATE meeting date!
