Vacation is Approaching, Encourage RAR! November 17, 2015 - 8:40am

As both the November and December vacations approach, please continue to talk to your child(ren) about RAR at school and at home.  RAR stands for Respect, Achievement, and Responsibility.  Encouraging and praising positive behavior will continue to support them during the vacation time, and help them to be more successful when they return to school.  We appreciate the support you give to reinforce RAR behavior and positive praise.

School Site Council Election November 16, 2015 - 1:45pm

We currently have two vacancies on our school site council. This is an elected position that sits as part of team that supports our school vision and gives input on managing our budget to support the needs of all of our students. We currertly have two candidates that would like to support Blackford as a part of this team; Darcy Ebert, who currently has a 5th grader at Blackford, and Jason Johnson who currently has a TK student at Blackford.  Please vote below and return the bottom portion of this letter by Wednesday 11/3.

Parking Lot Concerns October 27, 2015 - 3:43pm

Please help to keep our kids safe in the parking lot.

Remember that the yellow drop off lane in front of the school is for immediate drop off and pick up of students only. Please do not park or leave your car unattended by the yellow curb at any time. Also please make sure to reduce your speed to 5 miles per hour to help keep our students safe. Thank you for your cooperation with this matter.

We are working hard to reduce the number of tardy students each day.  

New Immunization Law Starts January 1st November 17, 2015 - 8:15am

Starting January 2016, new incoming students or those students transitioning from elementary to middle school will no longer be able to provide a personal belief statement or religious exemption for immunizations.

Under the 2015 Senate Bill 277, there is provision for “grandfathering” students who currently have a statement of belief or religious exemption until they reach their next vaccination checkpoint – kindergarten or 7th grade.  A licensed physician can exempt students from immunizations.

Conference Week October 22, 2015 - 10:32am

Conference week is October 19th - October 23rd. This is a reminder that all week we will be on a minimum day schedule. Transitional Kindergarten - 3rd grade will get out of school at 1:50 and 4th and 5th grade will get out of school at 2:00.
