District Explores New Education Opportunity for Students: Transforming Campbell Middle into a pre-K—8 School

Last spring, Campbell Union School District (CUSD) proposed creating an educational opportunity for CUSD families by transforming Campbell Middle School (CMS) into a school for preschool-through-eighth-grade students. This month, a newly formed Transformation Team will meet for the first time to begin the work of examining options and developing recommendations to send to the Governing Board for action.

We will provide regular updates through Transformation Round-Up bulletins, school and district web sites/e-news, and public meetings.

More details are here in our first Transformation Round-Up.  There is also a "Frequently Asked Questions" page on our District web site, and anyone can sign up to receive weekly news via email.

  • CUSD is preparing an executive summary of our LCAP, which will be ready in January.
  • There are two LCAP Community input meetings scheduled for January 18th and 24th where the District will elicit input about goals and priorities. Slides from the presentation can be seen on request or online at www.campbellusd.org/board.

Lunchtime provides your child the opportunity to socialize with his/her peers as they eat independently.  It is also a wonderful extension of the classroom where social learning takes place. In order to allow your student this social success at lunchtime, VISITORS ARE NOT ALLOWED AT LUNCH or RECESS unless approved by the classroom teacher and the administration on a special occasion circumstance. Please be aware that the more time you spend with your child during their lunchtime, can affect how they interact and behave with their peers. It may increase separation anxiety with your child as well as inhibit them from socializing with other students. Our number one focus is on your child’s education and social/emotional development and therefore it’s imperative that you encourage your child to be independent and learn how to eat and socialize with their fellow peers.  We have ample coverage at recess and lunchtime, so your child is in good hands. We understand that it can be difficult to allow your child this independence, however we firmly believe the more you allow your child to eat on their own and socialize, the more they will begin to navigate social situations and feel a sense of empowerment. Please note this new policy will go into effect December 12, 2016. If you have any questions please feel free to stop by the office. We love seeing you on campus and there are many ways that you can get involved. If you would like some ideas about volunteering or other opportunities to support our campus please come to the front office. Thank you so much for your continued support of Blackford and our students.

The Measure CC school bond will allow us to continue providing high-quality education and equal access to a 21st-century education.

A Message from Superintendent Eric Andrew

Yesterday, voters in our District overwhelmingly approved the Measure CC school bond and allow us to continue providing high-quality education and equal access to a 21st-century education.

The funds will help us do things like repair leaky roofs, upgrade fire alarms and security systems, upgrade science equipment and laboratories, provide access for students and teachers with disabilities, construct new classrooms and facilities and modernize old classrooms.

Campbell Union School District is truly fortunate to have a community that is so actively supportive of our students, teachers, and schools.

Thank you, again.
