Update on State Test Results and Reports September 14, 2016 - 3:12pm

"The recent California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) scores reflect a ‘snapshot' in time of our progress towards mastering the Common Core State Standards, but they don’t tell the whole story,” said CUSD Superintendent Eric Andrew.  “We are disaggregating these results and reviewing our other assessment data to pinpoint where we need to bolster our instructional practice and ensure that all of our students succeed.”

Cupcakes/Cake At School September 6, 2016 - 2:11pm

We know that celebrations at school can be a ton of fun. While many students do bring a treat to share with their classmates on their birthday, for class parties, etc. we wanted to make sure you are aware that we are no longer allowing cupcakes or cake at Blackford. The frosting on these items stains our materials, such as textbooks and desks, as well as makes a mess throughout the school. There are many other options such as fruit, stickers, pencils, cookies, etc. to have your child bring to school if you chose to send them with something to celebrate a special occassion.

We are a school who participates in not only academic education, but character building as well and will continue to practice RAR (Respect, Achievement, Responsibility) in all parts of our day. We also encourage you to support your student with RAR at home as well by asking them about their day and how they showed RAR. We are looking forward to a great year!! Go Bobcats!

Workout Wednesday August 29, 2016 - 11:02am

Let's Move!!! We believe that movement is not only good for our health but it is also good for our brain. Throughout this year Blackford will participate in "Workout Wednesdays." We are encouraging staff and students to wear workout clothes to school every Wednesday to promote movement and health. Students and staff will make extra attempts to get outside and purposefully move more to encourage health and wellness. While health education and movement will occur on days other than Wednesday, we wanted to have a designated day to celebrate as a school.
