Our 3-5 grade students and teachers are busy preparing for statewide assessments, called the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP).  Our students will be testing in the areas of English Language Arts and Math.  Our 5th graders will take an additional test in Science.

Our students will be testing May 1st-May 19th.  We will conduct make up sessions during the week of May 22nd-26th.  It is very important during this time that every student...

-gets a good night's sleep

-eats a healthy breakfast, which includes some protein if possible

-stays hydrated

-is on time to school.  Testing begins promplty at 8:30 and if students are late it can induce stress for them, the teacher and their classmates.

Parents can also help by scheduling activities and appointments outside of school hours so this way your child does not miss any sessions.

Our goal is to make the testing environment positive and reassuring.  We want all our students to do their best and have confidence they can do well each day of testing.

Hello Blackford Families!

Thank you all SO much for your participation in the Kids Heart Challenge.

I am SO impressed with our school! 14 students took the challenge to be kind, 22 students took the challenge to move more! We passed our school goal and raised $2,191, helping to save 43 lives!!! WOW!!! This is also a new school record, CONGRATULATIONS! 4 students completed Finn’s Mission, and 5 families learned hands only CPR!

Mrs. Delaye, one of our Innovation TOSAs (Teachers On Special Assignment), taught all our students a unit about trees.  She then brought forward the opportunity for our students to submit posters to CA ReLeaf, who was sponsoring a statewide poster contest with the theme of "Trees Plant a Cooler Future."  We are so proud to announce, Henri Wiedmer, was one of four winners.  His poster won the Imagination Award.  Henri's poster will be featured on CA ReLeaf's website https://californiareleaf.org/  and it will also be showcased in a CAL Fire short video.  All the Bobcats at Blackford are very proud of Henri and are excited about his accomplishment.  See Henri's poster above & below!
