We will be having our annual field day on Thursday May 28th from 8:45 – 10:15. This is a great event planned by our PE program, Rhythm and Moves, where our students will participate in several different physical education stations. We would love for parents to come out and be a part of this day and volunteer to help run a station. It is sure to be a fun event. If you are interested in volunteering please contact the front office at 408-978-4675.

Summer is coming quickly and with the break in academics it is very beneficial to your students learning to keep a reading regimen going throughout the summer. In between vacations, “stay-cations,” visits to the park, day trips, etc. help your student to establish a summer reading routine to keep those brain cells working.

You have the power to cut the power! Let’s all work together to reduce screen time! The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends:
2 or less hours of screen time each day (screen time includes: TV, video games, nonschool computer). Here are some ways you can help keep screen time down.

  • Keep TV out of bedrooms
  • Turn TV off while eating
  • No TV during homework time
  • Limit screen time to specific times/day

Please remember that there is NO supervision for students who are eating breakfast prior to 7:55. If your student is eating breakfast at school, please refrain from dropping them off or letting them walk to school prior to 7:55 a.m. If your student is not participating in the breakfast program they should be dropped off when the gates open at 8:20. Our priority in the morning is keeping the kids safe. It is a safety concern when students are hanging out in front of the school with no adult supervision. This is also a reminder that school gets out at 2:50 for TK-3rd and 3:00 for 4-5 everyday, except Wednesday when TK-3rd gets out at 1:50 and 3rd-5th gets out at 2:00. Please be prompt in picking up your child.

Toss the remote, go outside, and have fun! Be a family that plays together. Let’s all aim to include at least 1 hour of physical activity into each day! Recently the World Health Organization called physical inactivity to be among the greatest threats to health world wide. Here are some ways you can integrate 1 hour of physical activity into your day.

  • A family walk is a great way to spend some quality time together.
  • If watching TV, hit the mute button during commercials and see who can do the most push-ups or jumping jacks.
  • Don’t let the weather prevent physical activity; turn on the radio and dance or practice your jump rope skills.
  • Try a family Zumba class

Remember, role modeling is a great way to encourage your children to be active!
