Thankful Tree at Blackford

This month’s Character Strong focus is on GRATITUDE.

Gratitude means being thankful for the good things we have. It’s like saying “thank you” when someone does something kind, or feeling happy for things like our friends, family, or even sunny days to play outside. Gratitude helps us notice all the little things that make us feel happy and cared for.

The PTA has “planted” a Thankful Tree in the main hallway and it needs your help to grow.

We’re inviting parents and students to stop by, grab a paper leaf, and write down something you’re thankful for. Add it to our tree and watch it fill up with gratitude. Together, we can create an awesome display of gratitude and positivity, celebrating the good things in our lives!

Reminders for safe Blackford pick up and drop off

In the coming weeks, you may see increased law enforcement to check school zone speeds and ensure proper use of the following areas:

Passenger Loading Zone (PLZ), on Leigh Ave., is only for dropping off or picking up students while the drivers/parents remain in their vehicles.
The 15-minute parking zone, (On Leigh; Prior to the Passenger Loading Zone (PLZ) by the bus loop), is for drivers/parents who prefer to leave their vehicle and walk students to/from the campus.

With your help, we can keep our students safe as they travel to and from school and keep traffic flowing well in our neighborhood.

Early Dismissal All Week

This week is Parent Teacher Conference Week. We will be releasing students early.

TK - 3 grade will be released at 12:30 pm.

4th and 5th grade will be released at 12:40.

Please pick your students up on time. There will be no childcare provided, except for those who regularly attend CampbellCare.

Welcome Back to the 2023-2024 School Year!

Welcome back Bobcat Families! We hope you had a fun summer, doing things you enjoy! We are so excited to welcome all our Blackford Bobcats back to school we have missed you.

Our first day of school is Wednesday, August 16th. Our staff has been working hard for several weeks getting ready for the new school year.

By now you should have received an email through parentSquare with our start of school information.

Class Lists will be sent via email through Parent Square at 4 PM on Tuesday, August 15th.

Honoring Our Blackford Retirees

We would like to thank Mrs. Emerson and Ms. Enfantino for their years of service and dedication to the students of Blackford and CUSD.

Both Mrs. Emerson and Ms. Enfantino have each taught over 23 years in the district. They have given countless hours to planning, collaborating, designing, creating, teaching, assessing, nurturing, guiding and loving students and their profession.

Ms. Enfantino is finishing her career teaching TK, our youngest learners. Mrs. Emerson will finish her career teaching Kindergarten. They each have been instrumental in shaping the lives of our youngest learners.

We are happy for them both and know they are both looking forward to traveling in their retirement! Please join us in wishing them well in their retirement.
