5th Graders Tackle Social Challenges

Blackford 5th graders worked with volunteers from Cisco last week to solve a societal challenge during the Social Innovation Camp offered through Junior Achievement of Northern California. The camps provide students with a social issue that they solve in small groups, then present their business plan to a panel of judges. The partnership is part of the district’s STEAM education initiative. This program reaches all fifth-grade classrooms, about 950 students, in the district, and includes visits to local businesses, such as Microsoft and Cisco.
