School News
Friday, Dec. 20th is Pajama Day! Students may wear pajamas to school but still need to wear regular shoes to protect their feet. We are excited to see all the cozy PJs on our last day before the vacation!
We are so grateful to everyone who supported our APEX fundraiser over the last two weeks. We raised over $18,000 which is more than we have ever raised from a fundraiser. All of these funds will go to supporting our STEAM programs, field trips and PTA community events. We are so thankful to everyone in our community for helping our school and making a difference for our students. We look forward to working with APEX in the future!
Thank you Bobcats!! We were able to donate over 520 pounds and over three barrells of food to the Second Harvest Food Bank. We truly appreciate the donations. Mrs. Lipari's 3rd grade class won a pizza party for donating the most food. Thank you all!
Blackford wants to support our community during the holidays! Please bring canned food items or non-perishable items to donate to Second Harvest Food Bank from December 9th to December 12th. Food items can be given to classroom teachers and/or put in the donation bin in the office. Thank you for your support!
We have many items in the lost and found piling up. Please remind your child(ren) to look for lost items before 11/22. Any items left after 11/22 will be donated.
On October 31st at 9:00 a.m. we will have our annual Halloween Parade on the upper and lower yard of our campus. As a reminder it is our policy, and will be strictly enforced, that students may not wear any kind of masks to school on Halloween. Students may dress up in their costumes for the parade and will need to have a change of clothes to put on following the parade. All toys that resemble weapons are not allowed even if they are part of your child's costume, please remove them before they come to school in the morning. As a reminder face paint/makeup covering the entire face is also not allowed for the parade, students will be asked to remove this face paint/makeup. We will have some fun activities set up in the library for our students who would prefer to not participate in the Halloween parade as well.
REMINDER: As always, there are NO DOGS ALLOWED
During the professional development day on October 14th, teachers were trained in using Thinking Maps. Thinking Maps are a way for students to organize information and produce different ways to show their understanding. There are eight different Thinking Maps that students will learn over the next eight weeks. We encourage you to talk to your child about them as they learn how to use them. The eight maps are called the circle map, bubble map, double bubble map, tree map, brace map, flow map, multi-flow map and bridge map and they will be taught in this order. We will continue our training on November 1st during our next professional development day.
Please join us on Saturday, October 26th from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. There will be a silent auction, food to purchase, a photo booth and fun activities for everyone! Students can bring their bobcat tickets to use to play the games. See you there!
During our Bobcat Assembly on 10/4, students learned that Superhero Day will be our first spirit day of the year. Students can dress up as their favorite superhero on 10/18. Let's show our spirit Bobcats!!
